Humanist weddings are becoming one of the most popular ways to get married in Northern Ireland since gaining legal status in 2018. Although a non-religious ceremony, it is deeply respectful of all beliefs and faiths.
No wonder they are so popular! A Humanist wedding is absolutely unique with the couple being the heart of the ceremony. It reflects their dreams and wishes, weaving their words and love story into an unforgettable and personal ceremony. Ultimately, a ceremony should be a reflection of the couple with their family and guests saying afterwards: ’Wow, that was so them!’
It is so important to pick the right celebrant for you, someone who understands and reflects your personalities and values. It’s a bit like finding your perfect partner, home and even friend. This will be one of the biggest days of your lives so take your time and choose carefully! Other Humanist Celebrants can also be found at humanism.org.uk
I am a trained and accredited celebrant with Humanists UK. I take huge pride in my role and am constantly updating and perfecting my craft. Each wedding ceremony that I am chosen to conduct is an absolute privilege and I delight in getting to know every couple and turning their ideas into a memorable ceremony.
I am happy to conduct your wedding ceremony at your own chosen venue or an elopement at The Rocks, .
Your wedding should be a journey not just a destination. Enjoy all the fun of preparation, delight in choosing the dress, savour the menu and cake tasting, ponder over the personal touches for these will all become part of the happy memories of your wedding.
As a celebrant I try to add to the magic of this journey, getting to know my couples well through meetings in person or online. This is done through many conversations, texts, mail and fun questionnaires. We even organise an afternoon tea with fizz at my own Summer House so we can polish and perfect your wedding ceremony.
Please call me or and meet me for a chat completely obligation free. I serve amazing coffee and baking from a local baking legend!
Firstly, we will set up an initial meeting which can be online, over a coffee or at The Rocks, my own tiny wedding venue. This is a chance to chat about your wedding ceremony ideas and to ask any questions you may have.
If you decide to choose me (apart from being totally overjoyed!) I will regard this as a huge honour and will work with you both to create a unique bespoke ceremony which can be as romantic, elegant, informal, or crazy as you want! This is your wedding!
After completing the initial paperwork (legal marriage notices, booking forms and contract) sample scripts are then sent a few months before your wedding. This will give you an idea of format and possible content. You’ll be amazed by the ideas! A couple’s informal and fun questionnaire is also sent along with the sample scripts.
Your answers provide the content for your wedding script and captures your personalities, your story as a couple and some lighter moments to share with family and friends.
After a rough draft is agreed I like to ask couples and a couple of friends if you li) down to our lovely pond side Summer House at The Rocks, my own tiny venue. This is a fun afternoon where I feed you amazing home baking and you can enjoy a glass of fizz. It’s a time to get to know one another even better and to finalise your wedding script.
As The Rocks is a venue you can look at the resources we have here such as ideas for readings, poems or vows if you need inspiration. You can also have a look at symbolic gestures available such as hand fasting, sand blending, unity candles, the list is long, but we have many options for you to explore!
Rehearsal in the days before your wedding is included and a great way to ensure smooth running of your big day and great for dispelling last minute nerves!
On the day of your wedding, I arrive at least one hour the ceremony to check everything is in order and to speak with the people you have chosen to be involved in your wedding.
Finally, after your wedding I leave you with a boxed presentation script and personalised gift as a memento of your humanist wedding.
I have no hidden extras - send as many emails as you wish, call me, meet me for coffee. This is your day and one of the biggest events in your lives, so I never limit my time or charge extra. Your happiness is more important to me!
